This makes me feel that nothing is worthy all my energy – that everything I do must be half hearted because to get involved means I lose this sense of looking, and get too identified. I think I find it hard to establish where the boundaries are in term of effort and observation of the story.

Play in the story as much as you like. If however, you find yourself suffering, that is when you know you’ve identified and taken the story as personal.
